The Nobel Prize in Literature

The Nobel Foundation has announced today that the Nobel Prize in Literature can again be awarded, since the Swedish Academy in the past year has taken considerable steps to reestablish confidence in itself as an institution. This means that two prizes will be awarded this year: the reserved 2018 prize and the current year’s prize.

In this connection, Academy member Horace Engdahl has announced that he will “leave, on my own initiative, the literary Nobel Committee so as not to compromise the future of the literary prize by complicating the cooperation between the Swedish Academy and the Nobel Foundation.”
